Behavior & Temperament
Behavioral Traits & Temperament Kribensis are generally peaceful, but like most dwarf cichlids, they carry a bit of an independent streak, especially once they pair off. Bonded pairs are known for being attentive, hands-on parents, often digging small caves the substrate to raise their fry, and they'll defend that space with a surprising amount of confidence for such a small fish. Outside of breeding season, they tend to get along well with other peaceful community fish and aren't known for being fin-nippers or bullies. That said, it's worth giving them a few hiding spots and a bit of their own territory so they don't feel the need to compete for space, especially in a mixed-species tank. in the community tanks
Male vs Female Identification
Telling males and females apart gets easier as the fish matures, though at 1 inch its difficult thing actually, Males tend to grow larger overall, with more elongated, pointed fins and a slightly less intense belly color. Females, on the other hand, are usually smaller and rounder-bodied, and develop a distinct magenta-to-red blush across the belly, particularly noticeable when they're in breeding condition.
